How to Connect Your Instagram Account

Complete Setup Guide — All steps, no technical knowledge required

This guide walks you through every step needed to connect your Instagram account to IG Lead Engine. It takes approximately 20 minutes. You will need access to your Instagram account, a Facebook account, and the Facebook Developer Platform. All links are provided — no searching required.

What you will do in this guide:

1.Convert to Business Account — Required by Meta (personal accounts cannot use the publishing API)
2.Create a Facebook Page — Instagram publishing works through Facebook's infrastructure
3.Link Instagram to Facebook — Connects the two accounts so the API can reach Instagram
4.Create a Facebook App — Your personal "key\" to Meta's API
5.Add Instagram permissions — Tells Meta what your app is allowed to do
6.Get your three credentials — Instagram Account ID, Page ID, and Access Token
7.Verify and enter credentials — Confirms everything works before going live

PART 1 — Account Setup (Steps 1–3)

Why this is required: Meta (the company behind Instagram and Facebook) only allows automated content publishing to Business accounts. Personal accounts and Creator accounts are not supported. This is a free switch and takes about 2 minutes.

1.1 Do I already have a Business account?

Open Instagram on your phone. Go to your profile (bottom-right icon). If you see labels like "Professional Dashboard", "Insights", or a category below your name (e.g. "Restaurant" or "Retail"), you likely already have a Business account.

Still not sure? Tap the menu (three lines, top right) → Settings and privacy → Account type and tools. If you see "Switch to Personal Account", you are already on a Business account. You can skip to Step 2.

1.2 How to switch to a Business account

1
Open Instagram on your phone
2
Tap your profile photo (bottom right corner)
3
Tap the three horizontal lines (top right corner) to open the menu
4
Tap Settings and privacy
5
Tap Account type and tools
6
Tap Switch to Professional Account
7
Tap Continue on the information screen
8
Select a category that best describes your business (e.g. "Local Business", "Product/Service")
9
On the next screen, tap Business (not Creator)
10
Tap Next — your account is now a Business account
Important: Choose Business, not Creator. Creator accounts look similar but do not support the content publishing API that IG Lead Engine uses.

PART 2 — Facebook Developer Setup (Steps 4–5)

The Facebook Developer Platform is where you create an "app" that acts as your credential to use Meta's API. Think of it as registering a key — it identifies your account to Meta's systems and controls what permissions you have. This part looks technical but is straightforward if you follow each step exactly. You will be clicking through a website (developers.facebook.com) — no coding required.

PART 3 — Getting Your Instagram Credentials (Steps 6–7)

What you need — three values to connect IG Lead Engine to your Instagram account:

Instagram Business Account IDA unique number starting with 178...
Facebook Page IDA unique number for your Facebook Page
Permanent Page Access TokenA long string starting with EAA... that never expires
All three are retrieved using the Meta Graph API Explorer — a free browser tool built into the Facebook Developer Platform.

How to Create Your Customer Persona

Section B — Persona Generator

A detailed customer persona helps the system generate content that speaks directly to your ideal client. The better your persona, the more targeted and effective your carousels will be. Use the prompt template below with any AI assistant — ChatGPT, Claude, or similar — to generate a comprehensive persona, then paste the key insights into your onboarding form's Target Audience field.

Copy the prompt below, fill in your business details, and paste it into any AI assistant.

INPUT VARIABLES (fill in before running):
Industry = {e.g. Aesthetic medical affiliate platform}
Company_Name = {e.g. The Clair Access}
Company_Positioning = {e.g. curated, premium, doctor-led, trust-focused}
Country_of_Operation = {e.g. Thailand}
Primary_City_or_Region = {e.g. Phuket}
Target_Audience_Nationality = {e.g. Russian expats}
Target_Audience_Status = {e.g. long-term residents / short-term visitors}
Price_Level = {e.g. premium / mid-range / accessible}

ROLE:
You are a senior behavioural marketing strategist specialised in high-trust medical and premium service industries. Your task is to generate an exhaustive, operational, marketing-grade persona based strictly on the variables above. Avoid generic demographic clichés. Focus on behaviour, fear, trust mechanisms, and decision dynamics.

OUTPUT STRUCTURE (MANDATORY):

1. Persona Core Identity: Name, socio-economic profile, residency profile, cultural mindset, financial comfort level
2. Jobs-to-be-Done (JTBD Framework): Functional job, emotional job, social job — explain each in 2–3 precise sentences
3. Root Pain (not surface pain): The core structural fear, the hidden emotional driver, the main decision friction. Do not mention price unless justified.
4. Trust Barriers (Ranked): Linguistic barriers, cultural mismatch, legal/accountability fears, medical outcome fears, financial opacity — explain why each matters
5. Decision Criteria Checklist: What must be present for conversion, what instantly disqualifies a provider, what signals premium positioning
6. Information Behaviour: Where they search, how they validate, who they trust, preferred communication style, decision speed
7. Conversion Trigger: The precise moment they move from hesitation to action, what reassurance mechanism unlocks conversion
8. Language to Use vs Avoid: Two lists: words/tone to use and words/tone to avoid
9. What NOT to Post (Critical): Marketing actions that would damage trust for this persona
10. Funnel Implication Summary: How this persona affects awareness, consideration, and decision strategy

OUTPUT FORMAT RULES: Use structured headings. No emojis. No fluff. No motivational language. Clear and practical. Designed to be reused daily as reference.
